History at Hop Pickers

The History of Hop Picking at Pigeon House Farm

Pigeon House Farm has a deep-rooted history in hop picking, a tradition that shaped rural life in Worcestershire & Herefordshire for generations. From the 19th century to the mid-20th century, families from the Black Country and beyond would travel here for the annual harvest, spending weeks working in the hop fields.

Though modern farming has changed, the legacy of hop picking remains an important part of our farm’s heritage. To learn more about this fascinating past, read our blog Why the Name Hop Pickers?
